WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., June 12, 2008 - One of the most prominent executives in healthcare real estate has joined Seavest Inc. to help direct the White Plains-based firm's continued growth in that rapidly expanding sector. Jonathan L. (John) Winer, a former Principal with Ernst & Young (E&Y) LLP, will join Seavest as Executive Vice President, effective June 16. In his new position, Mr. Winer will have multi-faceted responsibilities related to arranging transactions, sourcing capital and assisting with operational initiatives. While with E&Y, Mr. Winer directed the Real Estate Capital Markets Advisory Group and the firm's Healthcare Real Estate Advisory Practice. In that role, he advised health systems and investors on real estate transaction strategies and executed transactions on behalf of his clients. He also chaired E&Y's Real Estate Capital Markets Commitment Committee. Mr. Winer has also been a frequent speaker at healthcare industry events including seminars sponsored by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Legg Mason and Columbia University. He co-chaired the BOMA Medical Office and Healthcare Facilities Conference in 2007 and is again the co-chair for 2008. He also serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the trade publication Healthcare Real Estate Insights. "We are delighted to add someone of John Winer's stature and experience to our team," Seavest President Douglas F. (Doug) Ray says. "We are confident that John will drive further expansion of the investment and development initiatives that have made Seavest a recognized force in healthcare real estate." "Seavest has been profitably investing in medical real estate for more than 20 years," Mr. Winer says. "You don't find many firms in this industry with that track record. Seavest is flexible in its approach to structuring transactions and is a long-term holder of real estate. I have always believed that to be successful in this business you need to have both of these key attributes. Joining Seavest enables me to offer those benefits to our client base of hospitals, developers and investors." Prior to joining E&Y, Mr. Winer was a Managing Director and Partner of The Harlan Company Inc., a real estate advisory and investment banking firm, and was employed by Chemical Bank and Bear Stearns & Co. Inc., where he specialized in providing tax-exempt financing. Mr. Winer's academic credentials include an M.B.A. from New York University and a B.B.A. from George Washington University. He is a member of BOMA, the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in New York. About Seavest Inc.
