Seavest-developed VA clinic opens in
Sunrise, Fla.
New Broward County facility provides modernized, expanded services to local veterans
SUNRISE, Fla., Oct. 15, 2008 - The burgeoning population of South Florida military veterans now has access to a new clinic that doubles the size of a previous facility, thanks to the Miami VA Healthcare System and White Plains, N.Y.-based Seavest Inc.
The new Broward County VA Outpatient Clinic provides improved and expanded access to healthcare to the more than 150,000 veterans residing in Florida's Broward, southern Palm Beach and northern Miami-Dade counties. The clinic, which is centrally located on about 10 acres at opened Sept. 22. It was dedicated Oct. 13 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that attracted state and local officials, as well as representatives of area veterans groups and the media.
The new clinic delivers primary, specialized and diagnostic care, and features the latest in high-tech services. With a generous 107,000 square feet of space, the facility offers improved and expanded services, including: dental, ophthalmology, audiology and speech pathology, cardiology, gastroenterology, dermatology, urology, neurology, women's health services, prosthetics and sensory aids, full-service radiology, pharmacy, mental health, immunology, podiatry, clinical lab, rehabilitation medicine, voluntary services, social services, and patient advocacy. It replaces a 26-year-old VA facility about 10 miles to the east in Oakland Park, Fla.
Now, in addition to the nearby Miami VA Medical Center, local veterans have convenient access to a comprehensive, modern medical clinic with "everything but overnight beds," Seavest officials say.
"Seavest is honored to have had the opportunity to develop this much needed clinic for the VA and for the region's veterans," says Seavest President Douglas Ray. "This medically sophisticated and technologically state-of-the-art facility will satisfy the healthcare needs of South Florida veterans now and for many years to come."
Seavest developed the facility for the Miami VA Healthcare System, which is part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The clinic is one of a portfolio of Seavest healthcare facilities located in Florida.
"Our veterans and valued employees have never been happier to have such a state-of-the-art, full-service medical facility," says Dr. Philip B. Greenberg, Chief Medical Officer of the new clinic. "More full-service, accessible healthcare in Broward County will undoubtedly lead to improved health outcomes for our veteran patients."
The facility is owned by a joint venture of Seavest Inc. and Enterprise Asset Management Inc. Financing was provided by HSBC Bank. The clinic is 100 percent occupied by the VA under a long-term lease.
