Richard Segal joins New York-Presbyterian board

WHITE PLAINS and NEW YORK, N.Y., Feb. 24, 2010 - Richard D. "Rick" Segal, a longtime investor in healthcare real estate, has been appointed to the board of trustees at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

The 56-year-old Mr. Segal brings to the position an exceptional understanding of healthcare facilities. As Chairman and CEO of Seavest Inc., a White Plains-based private investment management firm, he has been buying and building medical office properties for more than 25 years.

"New York-Presbyterian Hospital has some of the top-rated medical programs in the United States, and is an acknowledged leader in patient care, research and education," Mr. Segal says. Mr. Segal was on hand in his new role as a trustee for the Jan. 20 grand opening of the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. Before ing the hospital's board, Mr. Segal had put his healthcare real estate know-how to work as a member of the heart center's steering committee.

In addition to his medical real estate expertise, Mr. Segal brings many years of experience serving on the boards of other not-for-profit institutions, including hospitals, universities and museums.

Richard D. "Rick" Segal was born in 1954 and grew up in South Florida. He attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., and graduated cum laude in 1975. In 1981, he founded the investment firm of Seavest Inc. to provide wealth management and family office services to the Segal family and a group of other private investors. Today, he serves as Chairman and CEO of Seavest, which, while still functioning as a family office for the Segal family, has grown into an investment management firm focused on developing, acquiring and managing healthcare real estate properties.

Mr. Segal is a member of the board of directors of Nat Nast Inc. (men`s luxury apparel), Enablearning (on-line instruction) and SchoolNet (software solutions for school management).

In addition to serving on New York-Presbyterian Hospital Board of Trustees, Mr. Segal is President of the A.L. Mailman Family Foundation, a charitable foundation focused on early childhood care and education. He serves as a Trustee of Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and the Hole in the Wall Foundation (Paul Newman`s camps for children with cancer).  He is a member the Board of Advisors of the Nasher Museum at Duke University, and is Chairman Emeritus of Publicolor and a Trustee Emeritus of the Big Apple Circus.

Mr. Segal lives in Rye, N.Y., with his wife, Monica. They have four children.
